Coach Kenny Smith spent his own athletic career on the basketball court.  Having played collegiate basketball, he is no stranger to competition, and was an obvious choice to his son, Holden, who asked Kenny to train him USRPT.  Holden, knowing how focused his dad is, knew he would be a wise choice and that he would research and learn all he could about the sport.  As an ophthalmologist who specializes in LASIK and cataract eye surgery, Dr. Smith is very detail oriented and believes that success, whether it be in the pool or in life, lies in the attention to details in everything.  He has tried to transfer these principles into his coaching philosophies, where he continues to learn and teach the details of swimming, mental training, dryland training for swimming, proper nutrition for athletes, as well as proper recovery.  He has been a certified USA Swimming coach since the fall of 2016 and is a Level 3 ASCA certified coach.
